This is the first book in the Norseton Wolves series. This is the first book I've read by Holley Trent and I will definitely read the next one in the series. Christina is a wolf shifter from the mountains of West Virginia but she's not actually able to shift into her wolf form until she receives a bite from her mate. She's had a horrible life so far filled with poverty and abuse and she knows she'll never mate with anyone from her pack. She finds out that a newly settled pack from New Mexico is looking for females to mate with their males so she goes. When she arrives she's nervous and insecure especially when she sees the three other females that were brought there. Anton is a wolf shifter who is badly scarred and blind in one eye from an attack that happened months ago. He's angry his Alpha/uncle is forcing a mate upon him because he thinks no woman would willingly choose him. Christina is hesitant to meet her mate that everyone calls Beast but she knows she is better off there than with her old pack. Anton is very attracted to her but he thinks she deserves better so he keeps his distance. Christina feels safe with Anton and she knows all he needs is someone to love him and she's just the person to do that.Product details

I loved the Afotama legacy books. I really liked Adam Carbone and his pack who showed up and offered protection to Tess and her family. I love this companion series that is focused on Adam's Pack.

Adam Carbone Pack Alpha of the Norseton Wolves putst out a call for mates for his pack. Christina Stilton is from a Vargina Pack were abuse to the females is the norm. She jumped at the chance to escape in hopes for a better life. She is little but mighty. She just needs a chance to shine. Anton Denis "Beast" an Alpha and Adam's nephew. He was badly injured in his human form and feels he is not worthy of the mate his uncle choose for him. I really liked Anton and Christine. They are well defined and their relationship didn't feel rushed.Hope to se more of them in the main series. A really great and steamy read.
Really a 2 & 1/2 star rating rounded up. This started out as a good read, but the ending was rushed & skipped over to the epilogue. Left me feeling frustrated for the missing part of the story. The main characters were good & likable, the world building was enough to follow for the most part what was going on, though I would have liked to know more about the arrangement with the group at the mansion, who/what they are. The bummer though, was the last 1/4 of the story was missing then it jumps to the epilogue with no indication of how far a jump to the future the epilogue dates. I wouldn't buy any of the rest of the series due to this one's ending.
I downloaded Beast as a free novella from . This story introduced a minor twist on werewolf lore with brides doled out to be partnered/mated courtesy of the Alpha's determination rather than by attraction. The story didn't have as much depth and backstory as I prefer, even in short stories (for example, Ariel is always referencing how bad things were in her old pack, but we never know what caused her to seek a new pack as a bride- as a result, the reader doesn't feel much empathy for her). The protagonists were good, but the plot line had so much lost potential. The author's wish to make novellas of these great characters means a lost chance to build a complex and riveting full-length series. I mourn the loss, even as I enjoyed the crumbs I received.
This is really good. I mean really. I loved the heroine. She was smart and could get a bit smart-mouthed, too. She had a bad upbringing in a mean pack that didn't value females. She is small, and apparently that bothered her family's pack, too. But she is one that makes lemons into lemonade and learned how to do anything she set her mind to. She set her mind to getting out of her home pack, and she had a chance when some pack she never heard of asked for mates. So she went--not knowing where, and not knowing who her mate would be.
The hero wasn't looking for a mate. He had recently been injured and lost the use of one of his eyes. He doesn't feel worthy of a mate or capable of taking care of one. Good thing our heroine knows just how to take care of him. It is a really nice romance with a bull-headed (but really nice) male and a cunning female who knows how to get what she wants.
I got such a giggle and adored the absolute stubborness and frustration this man got trying to hold back with every instinct he felt when first meeting his mate. Like the way he is written is different than I've seen similar story lines portrayed. To me I love this the best! He was written with such passionate strokes of a man who was deeply set in his way of living and didn't want to budge even for this woman who would give up just to put a smile on his face. He finally relented though because she was his perfect match. She was a well written spitfire and didn't take *bleep* haha. I loved this short novella deeply!
Picked this up as a freebie today, and it was a quick enjoyable PNR, although I felt like I was missing something, and it turns out this is connected to another series to do with the Afotamas. I'm unfamiliar with that, so I kind of wanted a little more on that and how this pack came to be a new pack looking for mates.
Both h/H are likable. The H is scarred, wears an eye patch, and I like how he was sweet and noble but felt defective. The heroine starts off as uncertain, a little desperate, but soon asserts herself. I liked that backbone and how determined and capable she was. It's sort of an arranged marriage/mating, and there was a nice build-up to the sex, only one scene, I think, and it was steamy with some erotic detail.
An easy read, could have used a bit more detail on certain things, maybe a little more romance for me, but it was mostly enjoyable and a nice way to pass a quick hour or so.
